Documented weather in Morris & Stevens County, 2024–2025

Primary-source records — Minnesota DNR / National Weather Service. Sources reviewed July 2026.

July 27–28, 2025. Storms brought nearly two hours of heavy rain near Morris. A 61 mph gust was reported at the Morris airport, power poles snapped near Chokio, and observers reported hail up to ping-pong-ball size. Serious flooding followed across parts of Stevens County. MN DNR record

July 28–29, 2025. Storms again affected areas near Morris, adding one to two inches of rain and worsening the previous day’s flooding — the National Weather Service recorded roughly two feet of water over County Road 22 and West Seventh Street. The DNR noted this round produced no large hail. MN DNR record

December 28–29, 2025. A winter storm produced blizzard conditions across western Minnesota, with Morris recording a 60 mph wind gust. MN DNR record

After a Morris-area storm — what to look for

From the ground, check for displaced or missing shingles, dented gutters and downspouts, damaged siding, fallen debris, and any new interior water staining. Please don’t climb onto a wet, icy, or storm-damaged roof — that’s exactly what an inspection is for.

Winter exposure: snow load and ice dams

Stevens County sits in Minnesota’s 50-pound-per-square-foot ground-snow-load region on the state’s residential design map — a real structural factor here. Ice dams are a separate, moisture problem: heat escaping through the home warms the upper roof, melts snow, and the runoff refreezes at the colder eaves, where trapped water can work back under the shingles. An inspection can flag exterior damage and visible warning signs — though attic insulation and air-sealing may also need a look.

How we inspect — and why honest findings matter

A storm passing over your address doesn’t automatically mean your roof is damaged, and we won’t say it is when it isn’t. Not every inspection turns up damage — and when it doesn’t, that’s exactly what we tell you. A clean bill on your roof is a good, honest outcome, and it’s how a homeowner comes to trust the next call years down the road. We look, we document what’s actually up there, and we give you the truth of it.

What we do in Morris

Roofing (repair and full replacement), siding, and storm-damage documentation. Our workmanship carries a 5-year warranty, separate from the manufacturer’s material warranty on the products we install. For storm-related work, we document observed exterior conditions and prepare a construction scope and repair estimate as your contractor — we don’t interpret insurance coverage, act as your public adjuster, or negotiate your claim.

Morris anchors a farming county — USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts about 500 farms in Stevens County, roughly 92% of the county’s land in farms. We serve homeowners across that territory from our Alexandria base. Book a free, honest inspection.
